The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, the Big Easy is the beating heart of the Deep South.
Dance down Bourbon Street, where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars mixed with more colorful nightlife and entertainment venues. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.
To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by St. Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.
From the river you get great views of the CBD (downtown) skyscrapers and the Louisiana Superdome. Booking.com has several hotels nearby, including some on Canal Street, where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.
In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou.

I stayed in NOLA 6 days and felt like it was too short, don't get me wrong we did almost everything that's there to do, plantation tour, we ate lots of different beignets, po'boys, muffuletta, gumbo, jambalaya, trip in the steamboat natchez through the Mississippi, we listen to jazz at the famous conservation hall, walk through bourbon street, watched street performers, bought art on Sunday from the Jackson square artists, Sunday church at the famous The St. Louis Cathedral, we also visit the aquarium, the insectarium, WWII museum, the garden district I mean our schedule was packed!!!
You need great stamina, and walking shoes the people the food, the culture the houses I don't know which one we liked the best, it was more like a mix of everything it is such a magical and lovely place! 100000% recommended for any taste, age group, and everything there is something for anyone!
Honestly I can't wait to go back again!!

We stayed in the French Quater, which was perfect.
We stayed in the French Quater, which was perfect. I really enjoyed the steam boat trip and the Oak Alley plantation. We did do the plantation ourselves and the Steam Boat as it is cheaper to do online.

NOLA comes with superb french district night-out.
NOLA comes with superb french district night-out. Restaurants and clubs are chock-full with jazz bands all night long. Prices aren't economical, but it's worth spending few nights in the vintage district as it is like taking a journey to the past with timeless architectural features. Don't miss out a daily tour in the swamp just reasonable miles off the city or a plantation tour. Both come with impressive natural flora and fauna as well as awareness of recent history raising plenty of questions.

In-town for Jazz Festival (May 2-7, 2024).
In-town for Jazz Festival (May 2-7, 2024). Highly recommend this event. Enjoyed NOLA overall. Felt safe and comfortable at all hours of day and night. Friendly people. Good southern hospitality.
The French Quarter has a lot to offer. Almost continuous music by world-class musicians both on the street and inside venues. Frenchman's Street is a good music destination, in many ways better than Bourbon Street. Most venues have no cover-charge.
Jackson Square is very historic and well maintained, as is the RC Cathedral at the square. Countless excellent restaurants. City is very walkable and fairly easy to get around in.
Washington Square and Armstrong Park are both nice quiet and safe refuges from the hustle and action of the Quarter.
Clean rooms, great location, and overall comfortable stay at the hotel. The staff was friendly and was quick to adjust or stay when necessary (for example, when one of our coworkers switched rooms because of an AC problem). The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are well equipped (safe, fridge, tea station, large TV, enough electricity sockets, etc.). The hotel is close to the touristy areas (French Quarter, Bourbon street), which was perfect for our stay. The pool, whilst facing the East side, was a nice extra!
Overall, our stay was ok. The New Orleans Marriott is quite perfectly located in NOLA, so we opted for this hotel.
The price for our stay was rather high (>300$pPpN), but we were willing to pay it. Our room was big, clean, and overall good. Our room was facing the other tower, so we mainly looked at the other building, but were also able to see a bit of the French Quarter.
Site 61 Hostel is a cool place. It was by far the most affordable accommodation we could find in New Orleans and we were given a big room to ourselves. The location is pretty good, about a 10 minute drive north of the French quarter. I particularly liked the effort the staff went to in ensuring this wasn't a "party hostel" with strict quiet hours which was good.
Staff excellent, very helpful. Hotel is a short walk from French Quarter and convention area, where my events were. Quiet room, good facility for getting work done in room, convenient parking just across street. This is a superb hotel for someone who wants access to all that New Orleans has but does not want to be right in the middle of it.
The location of this hotel was great! It seemed to be in the middle of everything without actually being so. We stayed in the Warehouse District which my husband was weary of at first. Once we got there though he loved it. If we wanted to go the French Quarter or Garden District we could just walk a block to get on a streetcar and go.
Great location, spacious rooms. We in initially checked into a room with no working tv and the shower wasn’t great and the man on reception was really helpful and moved us straight away. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans who was to be close to French Quarter but away from the madness
If you want to have a safe stay in New Orleans, that's the place to go. We had a gorgeous room and the location is awesome. You're in the heart of the French Quarter. To make sure no bad luck happens to your car during night time, use the parking at Place D'Armes offered by the hotel for like 42$ a day.
The location of the hotel is convenient for travel into the French Quarter, as well as into the Central Business District or Garden Districts. The location is one of the only good things about this hotel, which is not a unique enough perk to compensate for all of the negative attributes ad experiences.
Location was perfect in the French Quarter. Close to everything but not very loud. We loved the vibe, fragrant fresh flowers in the entryway, and the very friendly & helpful staff. We’ve been to New Orleans before and plan to visit again, Hotel Villa Convento is our go to Hotel now!
Interesting apartment in the Central Business District of New Orleans. Walking distance to Superdome, French Quarter, parks and restaurants. On the St. Charles Streetcar line with easy access to Garden District. Clean. Comfortable beds. Quiet. Nice bathroom and kitchen.
This is a great place to stay in central New Orleans. You are only a few blocks from the French Quarter, but the hotel is in a quieter, cleaner neighborhood. The rooms are immaculate; beds extremely comfortable. The lobby is bustling, but the rooms are in quiet hallways.
The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff was attentive and kind. The location is walking distance to many of the tour attractions in the French Quarter. There was also a shuttle guests at the hotel could use to site see and travel throughout the city of New Orleans.
The hotel was perfectly located to everything in the French Quarter. The room was clean and the staff was great. This was our first trip to New Orleans. If we ever get a chance to go back, we'd definitely stay at the St. Christopher Hotel again.
The hotel was centrally located and we were able to walk deeper into the French Quarter, to Frenchman Street, to the Riverwalk and even to the Garden District. The staff was nice. Our room was very clean, had nice high ceilings and was spacious.
Beautiful, charming house just a short tram ride away from the Garden District and the French Quarter. Travis was helpful and responsive and Melissa was lovely. I would definitely recommend this place over any hotel in town.
Great hotel offers parking which a lot of hotels don’t in New Orleans free breakfast and dinner walking distance to the French quarter cause you definitely don’t want to drive very clean and friendly staff
This hotel was located in the business district of New Orleans but was only a short walk away from the French Quarter. Lovely place to stay with friendly staff!
